As Nigeria Program Coordinator, Laiah Idelson oversees CIFA's technical support offered in Nigeria, primarily with the Nigerian Inter-Faith Action Association (NIFAA).
Laiah has been involved with international development and social justice since the age of 12, when she became involved with Free the Children. She co-founded and directed one of their most active chapters in North America and served on their speakers’ bureau. More recently, Laiah studied at the University of Cape Town and worked with a local NGO, the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town, where she assisted refugees in finding jobs. After graduating from American University, Laiah taught English to fifth graders and assisted teachers in lesson planning for three months in a New Delhi slum. Laiah is also the founder of American University’s Dance Marathon, an annual fundraiser for pediatric AIDS.
Laiah received her BA from American University in Media and Government and Sociology.
